Two of Col-Ten's players sign with Augusta University

For the first time in Col-Ten's history, two men's players have signed with the same university in the same season. Federico Paci from Milan, Italy and Mattia Lenoci from Monopoli, Italy have both decided to follow their tennis dreams at Augusta University in Georgia, starting Fall 2025.

"I am so looking forward to play tennis and study at August University," stated Mattia Lenoci. "Col-Ten have been so professional and available to help me throughout this process, giving me guidance and answering my questions, that they have truly made this process a pleasure for me."

"I’ve been dreaming about this moment for years and now it’s finally come true," said Federico Paci. "After so much hard work and dedication, I’ve achieved something I’ve been chasing non-stop. I truly believe that Augusta is the right place to start this new journey, and I can’t wait to get started! As for Col-Ten, working with them has been amazing. Edoardo Santoni signs with Georgia Southern University

Edoardo Santoni takes his place in the College Tennis ranks

Thanks to the guidance received from Giovanni Oradini, Col-Ten Ambassador and Italian College Tennis great, Edoardo Santoni from Milan, Italy is headed to Georgia Southern University to follow his college tennis dreams.

After a high-performing junior career in Italy which saw Edoardo reach an Italian high ranking of 2.2 (circa 13 UTR), Edoardo decided he wanted to continue pursuing his tennis dreams in the US, combining it with his further education.

"It was a pleasure to step in to help Edoardo pursue his dreams," said Giovanni Oradini. "I had heard Edoardo had not been receiving what I felt was the right level of attention for his level with another agency, and so I offered to help him. The US College system has been a huge part of my own tennis life and I am passionate about helping other players like me find their way to the right place for them."

Mai Tsushima signs with Texas Wesleyan University

Mai Tsushima signs to play at Texas Wesleyan University

Mai Tsushima from Tokyo, Japan has signed with Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC), part of the NAIA sports division.

"It has been a pleasure to work with Mai throughout her search for her best-fit American University," said Paul Martin, Col-Ten Director. "Mai has a pretty unique background given she comes from Japan, played at an Academy in the US where she completed her high-school, but moved back to Tokyo before continuing her search for the right College. Her academic interests were clear, and the right-sized city was an important factor in her choice. And working with Coach Davis was a privilege as she could see Mai's athleticism, character, and tennis potential right from the beginning. At Col-Ten we wish Mai all the best of luck in her College career at Texas Wesleyan."

Lloyd Glasspool - from College to Wimbledon Champion!

Lloyd Glasspool completes the journey from College to Wimbledon Champion

Lloyd Glasspool has just completed the journey from college tennis player to Grand Slam champion.

Partnering with fellow ex-College Tennis Player and fellow Brit, Julian Cash, Lloyd completed an epic run of tournament wins in the 2025 grasscourt season, including Queen's, Eastbourne, and Wimbledon. Lloyd and Julian became the first all-British men's doubles pairing to win Wimbledon since 1936.

Lloyd's journey has been remarkable. He entered College as a Freshman as a relatively unknown player on the international tennis circuit. While at the University of Texas, Lloyd transformed into an NCAA Doubles Champion and All-American. He has since made the long hard journey over the following 10 years to win a Grand Slam.

In 2020, halfway along this journey, Col-Ten's Paul Martin spoke with Lloyd about his college tennis experience, what it meant to him, and how it had supported him to follow his dream of being a professional tennis player. It's an interview ( go to our YouTube page here ) that we recommend watching now, even more now that Lloyd has completed this historic journey from being a 4-year College Tennis Player to Grand Slam Champion.

Jessica Johnson signs with Savannah College of Art & Design

Jessica Johnson to play for Savannah College of Art & Design

SCAD (Savvannah College of Art & Design) have signed Jessica Johnson from Devon, England to become part of the Bees squad from August 2025.

Jessica said, "This is a great result for me. SCAD has a great tennis set-up, is a top 10 NAIA team, in the area I wanted to be, and I'm enrolling on my preferred subject of architecture. I couldn't have asked for a better fit. Paul was supportive through the whole journey, worked hard to get a good offer, and made sure there were no loose ends. Thanks Team Col-Ten ��."

Paul Martin, Col-Ten Director said "Jessica has been super-focused throughout the process, being clear about her target degree choice and the level of tennis she was looking for. College Tennis as a Pathway to the Pros

We love to hear about College Players excelling on the Professional Tennis Tour. It's part of the reason we do our work, and of course it's a huge part of the ambitions of many players making their way to follow their College Tennis dream. As an alumnus of the University of Texas Longhorns, I follow their results very closely. The "Horns" have been in a golden period of being at the top of College Tennis for many years now, but the latest round-up from Coach Bruce Berque shines a huge spotlight on the quality of tennis players coming out of the famous Texas Tennis Program. All the named players below graduated from Texas in the last 10 years, most of them in the last 3-4 years:

Eliot Spizzirri took home both the doubles and the singles titles at the ATP Challenger in San Diego. His live ATP singles ranking is now up to #145 in the world.
Cleeve Harper picked up yet another doubles challenger title, this time in Lugano Switzerland. Cleeve's doubles ranking is now up to #110 in the world.
Lloyd Glasspool won the ATP 500 Qatar Open, and is now ranked #15 in the world in doubles.
George Goldhoff reached the semifinals in doubles last week in San Diego, falling only to Eliot and his partner. George is currently ranked #161 in the world in doubles.
Miguel Reyes Varela reached the semifinals in doubles in the ATP 500 in Acapulco. Miguel is currently ranked #60 in the world in doubles.

Marcus Willis is making his move to the ATP's Top 100

In July 2023 Marcus was unranked. Now he's ranked 118 on the ATP Doubles Tour, and no. 42 in the Race to Turin. What a difference in just 9 months!

Marcus's big goal in early 2023 was to make it to the top 100 ATP Doubles rankings in 1 year. Having shown his doubles calibre back in 2017 with a win at Wimbledon over World no. 1 pair of the time, Herbert & Mahut, Marcus knew he wanted to get to that level and stay there. Multiple Challenger Tour wins with his partner Christian Harrison from the USA (pictured above together after winning last week's Savannah (GA) Challenger) have brought him to this strong position, still with 4 months of the 1-year points-building period to go. And those 4 months feature Marcus's favourite surface - grass!

As Marcus explains: "Last summer I had to start from scratch again with Futures-level tennis, and then moved pretty quickly to Challengers. Christian and I have had a great run in the last few months to bring our rankings to just outside the top 100. Now, our eyes are fixed on getting the right rankings in the next few months to qualify for main-draws of the US Open and the Australian Open. Naturally, I'm keen to play Wimbledon, although it might be tough to get the ranking to the right level with the time remaining. But the goal was always a 12-month goal to be in the top 100 and playing Grand Slam level doubles again, and I'm pleased about how things have gone so far. With the grass-court season in front of us, which will bring me to London in June and July and then to Newport, Rhode Island straight after Wimbledon, I'm looking to make a big step up into the top 100. Winning 2 more Challenger level events would do this, so that's the current goal."

Benjamin Johnson to join Drake University

Drake University have secured Benjamin Johnson to become a Drake Bulldog from January 2024.

Coach Ben Lott, also from the UK and in his first season as Head Tennis Coach at his alma mater, oversaw an excellent recruitment process for Benjamin, and is looking forward to seeing the immediate impact that Benjamin can make with his big serve and aggressive style of play. Benjamin is hot off a strong year of tennis which saw him reach a career-high of 89 in the British Men's Tennis rankings, and included qualifying for the season-ending British Tour Masters.

Marco Cinotti signs with D1 St. John's University

A great recruit for the Big East - Marco Cinotti signs with St. John’s Red Storm in NYC

Following Marco's signing with St. John's University in NCAA Division 1, it is time for him to leave for New York City.

The Red Storm have a very good tennis tradition and won the Big East Conference in 2023.

For Marco, this tennis and academic experience at a very prestigious university will also be enhanced by the evocative location of New York City. The campus is situated in the Queens residential area of New York City. The Red Storm's tennis home for training and matches is the historic Flushing Meadows Park, which is also the venue for the U.S. Open Grand Slam.

For Marco, the College experience will be for a springboard to the Pros. It is a tennis system that is increasingly competitive and chosen even by the Top junior players in the world precisely because of its qualities as an excellent training ground towards professional tennis.

Alex Rintoul shares his perspectives as he starts his Sophomore year at Lynchburg

Alex Rintoul from Warwickshire, UK worked with Col-Ten to secure his place at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. We're always pleased to hear from our Col-Ten Crew, and we thought this update from Alex should be shared with all our current and future Col-Ten clients. Thanks Alex and keep up the good work!

"Back in Virginia for my Sophomore year at the University of Lynchburg. For those who don’t know that’s 2nd year! Thoroughly enjoying my adventure here, playing tennis most days under blue skies, on the back of last year being the most successful Tennis year in 22 years for the Uni in the ODACS regional competition. I’ve found my doubles game has really progressed now I have been playing as the lead pair for the team, and the view from Warwick Boat Club after a summer back home is my game is more consistent than it used to be.

"Academically I have been able to explore more options as an undergraduate than I could in the UK. Under the credit system, I have been able to switch my major to Business Studies starting this year. The system encourages this approach and in general I find the flexibility suits me. Last year I also joined a fraternity, PKT. Contrary to the common view from the UK, the setup is designed to encourage friendship, support and mentorship and is countrywide not just specific to each University. Of course the social side is part of that too!

"I have made some great friendships and was pleased to have visitors to the UK last Christmas to stay. I can’t recommend looking into tennis scholarships enough! Any number of budget options are available from fully funded Div 1 to partially funded Div 3, which is comparable to the cost of a degree course at a UK university. Thanks to Paul and Col-Ten for helping me get to where I am today. It was fantastic to see all my Warwick friends over the summer, but given the unique experience I am having I’m glad to be back in sunny Lynchburg. Alex."

Benjamin Johnson from Devon, UK, makes his move towards American University

Benjamin Johnson from Exmouth in Devon, UK has signed with Col-Ten as he pursues his tennis career ambitions through the US College Tennis pathway .

"Benjamin is a real diamond-in-the-rough", states Paul Martin, Director at Col-Ten. "With a super-strong early junior tennis foundation, a few national titles during U16 and U18 years, and a solid British Men's Ranking of no. 110 with significant tournament play really only in the southwest corner of Great Britain, Benjamin will be an impressive addition to any D1 College Program that recruits him. His "unknown status" up to now really only comes from his lack of opportunity to travel extensively in the last 3 years. I'm personally super-excited about the contribution Benjamin is going to make to whichever College Program he goes to."

Greta Carbone making an impact at DePaul

Greta Carbone has made a strong start after transferring to DePaul University

The DePaul Blue Demons are on a hot streak! With a 7-0 in their last 7 matches (their best winning streak since 2016), Col-Ten's Greta Carbone is making her mark. With a big win, 10-8 in the third-set tiebreak, DePaul completed the clean-sweep over Marquette on March 4th by 7 matches to 0. The Blue Demons are now ranked #67 in the NCAA Division 1 rankings.

Greta is 5-3 on the season in singles having transferred from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee to DePaul in August 2022 for her Junior year. Keep doing us proud Greta!

Alex Rintoul secures 2 deciding wins for Lynchburg Hornets

Alex Rintoul is making his mark in dual match competition for U. of Lynchburg Hornets

With two important wins over this past weekend, Alex Rintoul is making his mark in college tennis for the University of Lynchburg Hornets.

On March 1st, Alex secured a close 7-6; 6-4 win at No. 5 singles versus the University of Roanoke, as part of the Hornets 7-2 win. This was the first time the Hornets have beaten Roanoke since 2019. Then on March 4th, Alex had a huge 7-6; 6-1 win at No. 5 singles in the deciding match to give the Hornets a nail-biting 5-4 win.

Lynchburg now have a 3-2 overall record, with a 2-0 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Keep up the good work Alex!

Federico Scotuzzi of Bergamo, Italy is all set to make his mark in college tennis

Another Italian tennis player has made his way to American University to pursue his combined tennis and academic career.

Federico Scotuzzi, from Bergamo, Italy with an Italian ranking of 2.4 and an ITF ranking of 500 has chosen the University of North Alabama (UNA) to continue his athletic journey. UNA competes in NCAA Division I in the ASUN conference, which includes universities such as Liberty, Jacksonville, Florida Gulf Coast, and North Florida. The Lions are in their first season under new Director of Tennis Olaya Garrido-Rivas and men's tennis coach Aitor Reparaz.

Niccolò Chiriatti makes his move to Union College, Kentucky

Italy's Niccolò Chiriatti reflects on settling in at Union College, Kentucky

Niccolò Chiriatti from Como, Italy signed with Union College in Kentucky after working with Col-Ten to consider multiple options that combined the right tennis and academic standards he was looking for from his university career. Niccolò started his college experience in August 2022. After finishing his first semester at Union College, we asked Niccolò how he was finding his exciting new experience in the US.

" I met Col-Ten through Greta Carbone ( DePaul University, Chicago) and they were always available to help and assist me in choosing the best university for me. I arrived here in the United States in Kentucky and integrated fairly quickly. I saw a new world with a different educational system in which sport plays a major role. Being a student-athlete helps a lot to fit into a whole new system and to interact with other students at the university. The tennis team is very strong and there is a high level of competition. Union College is competing in NAIA and we are ranked #12 in the country."

Freddy Murray makes his College career start at UNC Asheville

Ireland's Freddy Murray settles in at UNC Asheville

We're excited to see Freddy do really well in his College career. With a big tennis dream, a great coach in Tom Hand at UNC Asheville, and an amazing team of supporters back home in Ireland, we're looking forward to see just how well.

Like every person starting out at university after finishing school, there are changes to go through. We asked Freddy how he was getting on just one month in to his new life in North Carolina.

"The tennis in college is different from what I was used to before. It's really team-oriented, and we spend a lot of time working as a group, getting everyone better every day. There is a big emphasis on doubles and coming to the net which is new for me, so I'm learning every day. Travelling to tournaments as a team is a great way to make friends and form connections with my teammates."

"The schedule as a student-athlete is pretty busy, honestly busier than I had expected. We practice as a team 5 times per week for 2.5 hours, plus we have the option to train on our own. We have gym twice per week at 6:45am and after practice on Saturday. Nearly all the rest of my time is taken up with classes, homework and eating. Sunday is our day to relax, do some studying, and hang out with friends."

"I think I've settled in pretty well. Asheville is a very nice place with plenty to do. The university campus isn't very big so it's not overwhelming. Finding my classes on time has been pretty easy. The guys on the tennis team have been super-welcoming, and with quite a few international students they've been able to give me plenty of pointers and understand how I feel moving from Ireland to the USA. My favourite thing so far about college has been meeting lots of new people and making friends with people from all over the world!"

Marcus Willis Back on Tour

Marcus heading back out on the Doubles Tour

Our very own Marcus Willis, who made tennis headlines in 2016 on Wimbledon Centre Court vs. Roger Federer and again at Wimbledon 2017 with a doubles win over World No. 1 pairing Herbert and Mahut, is heading back out on the Doubles Tour, starting in July 2022.

"I'm pairing up with Luke Johnson with the goal to get back to Wimbledon in 2023 and ideally make it to the top 100 where I can play all the Slams and keep myself on tour for as long as possible. The target for year 1 is to make Top 400 ATP Doubles. I'll be starting off on the Futures circuit, to accumulate enough points to get back to the Challenger and then ATP Tours. I will be back in Warwick between tournaments and training to check on all our local protegés! I feel fortunate to be heading back out on Tour and can't wait to try myself again against the world's best!"

College Tennis Great breaks into ATP Top 10

One of the most recent College Tennis success stories, Cameron Norrie, who Col-Ten interviewed (go to our "Players Lounge" page to hear Cam's story) has reached his highest ever ATP ranking. After an amazing 2021 season, and a strong swing through the North American circuit, Cam has broken into the Top 10 after the Miami 1000 Masters event. Many congrats Cam, from the team at Col-Ten.

Alex Rintoul signs @ U. of Lynchburg

Many congratulations to Alex Rintoul from Warwickshire, England for signing with the University of Lynchburg in Virginia, beginning his College career in August 2022. Following a very focused 12-month process, during which time Alex worked really hard to develop his tennis while performing well in a challenging course of study at Warwick School, it was thrilling to see Alex achieve the goal he had set for himself to secure a place on an American University tennis team in a great location and on his target degree program.

"I’m so excited about playing tennis every day throughout my University career in Lynchburg," said Alex. "Thanks to Col-Ten and my coaches for helping me to get there. I can’t wait for the all year round weather and the unique experience to come."

Alex's parents, John and Jeanette, were pleased with how the process went for themselves and Alex: "Thank you to Paul and the Col-ten team for running such a smooth process from start to finish. The moment Alex decided he wanted to study and play tennis in the US, we found the experience with them professional and seamless. A number of US University Tennis Coaches expressed an interest in Alex representing them, and with Paul’s help we’re delighted Alex has been offered a place at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia starting in August 2022."

Freddy Murray signs @ UNC Asheville

We are incredibly pleased to announce that Freddy Murray from Belfast, Northern Ireland has signed with the University of North Carolina, Asheville to begin his College career in August 2022.

John McGahon, Freddy's long-time coach, said: “A big thank you to Paul, Marcus & Claudio from Col-Ten for helping Freddy secure his scholarship and tennis development for the next four years at UNC Asheville. I have been very fortunate to have spent many years coaching and travelling the world with Freddy. I know that he will be a real asset to Coach Tom Hand and the Asheville team. I want to wish Freddy every bit of success for the future and his next chapter in life.”

Freddy's parents, Karen and Michael, provided some lovely feedback: "We found the service from Col-Ten to be quite special, combining the vast experience of the team with their current knowledge of the college tennis scene. Lavinia Salvatorelli signs with Col-Ten

Lavinia Salvatorelli from Rome, Italy has signed with Col-Ten. Lavinia was a federation-supported player from age 12-16 and trains now with Riccardo Rosolin and Marco Mencaglia. Her Italian ranking of 2.6 corresponds to a 9.0 to 9.5 UTR. She is working towards starting at American University in August 2022.

Claudio Messina, Director of Col-Ten says, "We are very excited to be working with Lavinia. She is a very strong tennis player with many years of high performance experience, plus she is an excellent student. Her ambition combined with her sense of team will be great assets to any college program that she joins."

New signing - Alex Rintoul

Alex Rintoul from Warwickshire has signed with Col-Ten to help him achieve his university and tennis dreams. Alex has his sights set on his academics while gaining a great experience participating in the team sport of college tennis. Cameron Malik, Alex's performance coach, says: "Alex is a highly skilled and athletic competitor with a natural counter-puncher game style, yet is developing into an all-rounder with a growing level of competency and confidence in all areas of the court. The last 2 years he has seriously stepped up his training and tournament schedule with a higher intensity, showing a significant improvement in his development and performances, with results starting to reflect his progress." Freddy Murray wins his first ITF tournament

Congrats Freddy!

Freddy Murray, from Northern Ireland, currently ranked 711 in ITF Juniors, has just won his first ITF event at a J3 in Latvia. This win will push Freddy much closer to his current top-200 ITF ranking goal.

We're all proud of Freddy's achievements so far in 2021. Freddy is currently working with Col-Ten on his plans to start American University in the Fall of 2022.

Freddy Murray signs with Col-Ten

New signing

Freddy Murray, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, signed with Col-Ten in January 2021. Freddy's dream is to play professional tennis and he sees the American University system as the ideal place to build his strength, match experience and international travelling experience. And as a serious student, he also values the ability to earn a good degree.

We are super-excited to be working with Freddy who is one of the top Irish juniors, represented his country at the U14 Orange Bowl in 2017, and earned his first ITF points in 2019. His hard work ethic, and love of the game will serve him well!

Anastasia ("Nastia" to her friends) worked hard to earn her scholarship to the University of Northern Illinois starting in the Fall of 2020. Nastia's journey from her home-town of Moscow, to the Waske Academy near Frankfurt, Germany gave her a great platform to make the most of her US College experience.

In this interview she talks about her experience so far, from working with Col-Ten in early 2020, to obtaining her student visa, and finally arriving in Illinois to settle in to her new life as a UNI Huskie! Nastia explains what life on campus has been like so far, and how she is extremely pleased about the decision she made to go to the US.

Greta earned herself a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee starting in the Fall of 2020. Going to US College had been Greta's dream for many years, and her ambitious approach to her tennis and her studies positioned her well to achieve her goal.

In this interview she talks about her experience so far - starting with her work with Col-Ten to arriving in Milwaukee and quickly becoming part of the UWM Panthers family. Finally she gives her advice to anyone who is still trying to decide whether the US College route will be for them or not.

From Greece with Love!

We escaped lockdown in the UK, just!

Billy Harris (ITF #561) and I are here in Heraklion, Crete on the search for some wins and ITF points.

Unfortunately, so is half the tennis world. As there are so few tournaments on this means the cuts are extremely strong, meaning we only got into week 1 with a doubles wildcard. It’s windy here at times, played on very slow hard courts. Great for the spectator, taxing on the body!

In week 1 we beat the 3rd seeds in a high-quality match before losing 8-10 in the 3rd set tiebreak to a strong pair in the next round. A couple of inches decided the match the wrong way in the end.

No such luck with doubles wildcards in weeks 2 and 3 but we remain hopeful for the final week and are ready to play!

I’m helping Billy with his singles game, not really as a coach but as someone who can help see the things that Billy can’t when he’s on court, and more importantly be a supporting role to him with matches, training and keeping spirits high. It’s a pretty lonely tour at times, so we’ve made the most of it here so far with the awesome facilities onsite.

Unfortunately, in week 2 there was a huge storm putting half of the tennis centre underwater and flooding the outside courts. Amazingly we are back up and running again!

Billy has performed better and better each week in his singles too and we are looking for a strong finish to the trip, before we start our training block and prepare for a big 2021 on the road!

And while I have some downtime here in Greece I’m reaching out to friends, coaches and players, to help them with US College tennis placements for August 2021 or August 2022. If you’re interested in help from Col-Ten, just get in touch at team@col-ten.com .

UK NPL - Willis gets the win!

National Premier League Finals

Col-Ten's very own Marcus Willis led The Queen's Club team to a prestigious win at the UK's National Premier League finals in London, held September 10-13. With wins over Warwick Boat Club (QF), David Lloyd West Bridgeford (SF) and Halton (F), Marcus went 6-0 in his matches.

Marcus Willis made tennis headlines in 2016 on Wimbledon Centre Court vs. Roger Federer. Then he did it again at Wimbledon 2017 with a great doubles win over World No. 1 pairing Herbert and Mahut. In 2019 Marcus joined the Col-Ten team. His passion for helping young, aspiring tennis players is inspiring!

The Turati Twins, Anna and Bianca, have been stars of the University of Texas Women's Tennis Team since 2016. They made the move to Austin, Texas from their home near Milan, Italy and have made the most of their big opportunity, reaching the highest ranks in NCAA tennis. Bianca finished her career at Texas in May 2020 and is going to the WTA Tour to continue her dream of competing in the Slams. Anna will complete her degree and play one more season at Texas in 2020-21.

Lloyd Glasspool, from the West Midlands in the UK is one of the best examples of a US College Tennis success story. After a good, but not great, junior career he really shined in the US College system as a University of Texas Longhorn, finishing his career on the ultimate high by winning the NCAA Doubles Championships in 2015!
